plese help? =p

hey guys =D

As most of you know, I'm going to Thailand this August, and I will be joining a group called SEALNet (you can check it out on http://www.sealnetonline.org). Basically, SEALNet serves the community in Southeast Asia, promoting the spirit of service leadership in the region.

I will be involved in a project that aims to engage students in active learning. We will also be renovating the school library to encourage students to visit the library.

All this requires money, and therefore, I ask you guys to please help us achieve our goals. You can donate any amount you wish, 10 dollar, RM10, 100 baht, 500 baht, 1 dollar...anything. =p

Instructions on how to donate can be found on http://www.sealnetonline.org/donate.

Please let me know if you are willing to donate. My team members and I (as well as the little kids in Thailand) will be really grateful! =D

Thanks!

just trying to write something in Chinese, hehe...

casting..depending..relying..

In your presence i am content
You're altogether lovely.worthy.wonderful to me.

For every answered prayer
and i admit i do take them for granted sometimes yet u have your own reasons for why some of them are not being answered.
we might not understand and that is when we start doubting you.
Questioning why.
For always being there.I know you are but sometimes i fail and end up neglecting you.
For love that hears us when we call
For arms that lift us when we fall.
Anytime.Everyday.Everywhere.Everytime.

You have always been right beside us.
Leading us all along the way.The path you have for us.
And we've made it through
Because of you.

For days we cannot see
Wondering.Pondering to ourselves.
Where are you when we needed you?
For all that's yet to be
The trials we may have to face
When we'll be leaning on your grace
It will be your strength that save us
Teaching.Guiding.Providing us the wisdom to do so.
Your love that makes us strong.

I am learning.
I am only in the beginning of the journey and there's lots more for me to walk and experience with you.
Throughout these few years you've been guiding me.
Sending him over to keep an eye on me.

Cast all your anxiety on him for he cares for you.
I am.casting everything onto you.
Depending and relying on you fully

home...and loving it (sort of)

I'm home. But, I'm kinda bored. My dad took position as the Health Minister, banning me from going out for a week, for fear of me infecting other people with my non-existence swine flu =p.

So, I've been stuck at home, stalking people on Facebook, watching Singaporean dramas (where did my TVB drama on TV3 go to??? ='( ), and reading Archie comics.

I've finally had fish (thanks, mum!). Real fish, not deep-fried fillets. I've had my kolo mee (blissful look on my face now) and my seafood tomyam beehoon from jojo cafe. My aunt cooked fern with belachan, and I'm waiting for my "bak moi" (meat porridge) tomorrow, teehehe. Now, I want my laksa, tomato mee, gu bak mee, wanton soup, maggi goreng, nasi goreng pattaya, paprik, sweet noodle......

Not a freshman, but a rising sophomore...

Finals are over, and I know I owe everyone a post. Sorry.

*****************************************************************************************

This semester has been incredible. Masquerade Ball, Spring, Northeast Malaysian Forum, Spring Fling, and Hey Day were the highlights of this semester.

1. Masquerade Ball:
First prom ever. Enough said. =)

2. Spring:
Winter went away, and out came the sun. Cherry blossoms were everywhere for a week. Next spring, cherry blossoms in D.C.!

3. Northeast Malaysian Forum:
Met up with fellow Malaysians whom I've heard about but never met. Went to Yale, my dream school (you all know this lah). Discussed issues close to my heart. Met up with Jian Wei. Had a lot of fun lah, despite having a chem midterm the same week. No pictures for this one. Sorry.

4. Spring Fling:
The most amazing weekend ever. The weather was perfect. After weeks of rain and wind, Mr. Sun came out. Fried Oreos, Akon, Guster, group performances, friends...what more can I ask for?

a camel! i know, some "secret" frat rented a camel for fling.

5. Hey Day:
The juniors walks down Locust Walk, and everyone just throws eggs, mayo, mustard, ketchup, fish sauce, flour etc at them. But...they are not the only ones who get dirty! Once they get hyped up, they will start chasing after you to hug you.

The semester has come to an end, and sad to say, I am not a freshman anymore. I can't believe a year has passed. Everyone has started packing, and in 2 days time, no one will be around anymore. Where has time flew to?

Follow My Life: Snippets of Class Blog

The discussion we had this morning was really interesting. As we were discussing, I was trying to recall what types of book I read as a child. I remember that most of my picture books were related to animals. We had the popular "sang kancil" (mouse deer) who was cunning and smart, the "sang rimau" (tiger) who was brave and fierce, and the "sang buaya" (crocodile) who kept trying to catch "sang kancil" but was always outwitted. We had picture books with people on them too, and those books incorporate the three main races in Malaysia: Malay, Chinese, and Indian. I was never really exposed to books like "Dick and Jane". However, I felt like I've read them. I don't know why.

I just got back from Penn State, and I'm amazed by the difference in culture. I never knew that state schools were so into sports (forgive me, I'm not from the states). I absolutely love the ice cream Penn State produces as well!!!

The wind was so strong, I could barely lift up my head and walk to my classes. The cold wind did nothing to wake me up though.

I can't wait for spring break. It has been a long semester, and I am starting to feel REALLY tired.

But, still, I don't want the semester to come to an end.

  • I have no idea what I would like to write for my final project as well. There's so many topics to choose from, I don't know where to start.
  • I have been really unattentive in class today, tuning out most of what the professors were saying.
  • I went to the talk by the World Bank president. It was pretty disappointing.

I agree with Sofia that as college students, we do not always have time to connect to our real emotions due to the fast paced atmosphere. The other day, my friend told me that her roommate's dad just lost his job. Her roommate cried for a bit, wiped of her tears, and continued studying for her midterm.

It's sad how we are not allowed time to just connect to our inner feelings and feel whatever we want to feel. Instead, we are thrown into a world that does not wait for you if you choose to step back and cry.

I was going to write about circumcision as a rite of passage among African girls ,Shelby. However, I changed my topic to "hazing" and I'm pretty excited about it. I know hazing is banned, but I believe it's still going on right now.

I just came back from watching CATS, and my mind is filled with jellicle songs and jellicle cats.

Break is almost over, and I'm feeling panicky now. I hate it when there's midterms, papers, applications and quizzes after a break; I can't seem to enjoy my break properly. Fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well.

I did not go home over the break, considering that it takes almost a day to fly back to where I come from. So, I went to DC. I like it there. But, I fell sick, vomited the whole day, waited for 4 hours to see a doctor, and had to be given IV drips in the end because I was dehydrated. Not a nice experience...

I love the Mary Jane candy. Even though it was a bit hard, it was nice to sucked on. I love candies with butter in them. It definitely cheered me up. This week is just a bad, bad week for me.

It's technically Sunday, so I'm going to write my blogpost now before I forget tomorrow.

I've started reading The Kite Runner, and even though I've read it before, it still captures my attention. I'm actually really happy we are having Kite Runner as one of our readings, as it gives me an excuse to read a story book even though I have 3 midterms, 3 quizzes and 2 papers due next week.

WOW, there are so many new entries! I want to read every single one of them, but Physics is calling me from afar.SIGH.

Econ midterm was ok, I think I did pretty well. So, 3 down, 2 more to go!

Today's class was informative. I'm always scared when it comes to writing paper, because I am afraid that one day I will be accused of plagiarizing without even knowing it! I mean, sometimes you think that you are paraphrasing, but in actual fact, you are not.

If I ever get caught for plagiarizing, I did not mean it! I did it without knowing it!

I just want to shout, "MATH IS SO BAD!!!"

All I want to do now is watch a chick flick with a tub of ice cream in front of me.

I'm going to finish The Kite Runner tonight.
